For the new couture brand from Elizabeth Emanuel I spent
time looking at her collection to understanding fully
the personality behind this very creative couture house.
The logo requires to stand the changing creative dialogue
beyond the first collection and more then purely fashionable,
so with this in mind I settled for a strong font which has all
the characteristics of a well cut gown. Beyond simply the name
in a font I wanted to create a piece of design with an added
detail to expand the experience of the logo and to make
reference to the hand-finished qualities of ELIZABETH couture.
Early on in this exciting project I had described this new venture
from Elizabeth Emanuel as a βNew Elizabeth Eraβ with a golden
thread which runs through all the work from the very beginning
by this unique British designer. With this in my mind I decided
to replace the fonts middle stroke in the last letter E with a thread
to complete the form. The thread flows through the structure of
the letter and trails down linking all elements of the logo.
The E-thread can be seen delicately animated in the films
on the ELIZABETH website at elizabethemanuel.co.uk
